In our article of 21 June, we already you the “miracle thing” Polaris. Now 23 and June 24 was the match out of the Titans – man against machine. How these unusual match came about and how Polaris works, you can find in our article ” Clash of Titans or man against machine “.

The poker professionals Phil “The Unabomber” Laak and Ali Eslami have begun against Polaris
DE Casino Poker News
Polaris and have defeated. It was the first man against machine “poker match. This 2-day tournament, divided into 4 rounds, in the annual” Artificial Intelligence “Conference in Vancouver, Canada held. On Monday Polaris was still in the lead, although the lead was just. However, on Tuesday went into two days rounds, Laak and Eslami the outcome for themselves.
Polaris was at the University of Alberta in the Department of Computer Poker Research Group (CPRG). These deal with artificial intelligence in computer programs. The leader of the group is Jonathan Schaeffer.

We had the opportunity on Tuesday afternoon with Prof. Schaeffer to speak, just like the 3rd Round the end zuneigte. We have Schaeffer asked what the outcome of this match for the CPRG would mean.

“If we lose, we will first have to lick our wounds around us then to the development to bring about an even better technology to develop. If we win, then we will also analyse the game to be able to understand what happened. And even if Laak and Eslami win, but is an exceptional situation for the players, played with relatively little hands. Under normal circumstances would the players much more effectively against the program can play, “says Schaeffer.

Of course we Schaeffer also to the panic in terms of poker bots raised his opinion: “I would like to underline that we do not play online poker. No software is capable of us on any online poker site to play. “He adds further complication is that they do not have the goal of software for the online area. (Who is still insecure, it should perhaps our first article on the topic read: “The great fear of poker bots”).

It is here for the development of artificial intelligence (AI) worked and poker offers an interesting study area. It is a profitable game in relation to the study of a game and also relates to real problems faced by AI computer in the world have to deal, such as anything unexpected or not calculable / predictable happens.

The Match
Each round was composed of 500 hands, was played Limit Hold’em, the blinds were $ 5 / $ 10 and $ 10 / $ 20 The first round was on Monday 23 July started at noon. Eslami was first with a little Polaris friends before the game on a video wall was projected so that visitors to the conference were able to watch it. At the same time as Laak sat just for the Hyatt Regency Hotel, were obviously for all (Laak, Eslami, Polaris), only the community cards to see. Laak and Eslami each played the same cards against Polaris, therefore, was also the local separation of the two important.

Eslamis opening game was marked by ups and downs. Approximately half of the first round was $ 800 Eslami forward to his leadership for the next hundred hands began to wane. A recent upward trend could then Eslami but with $ 398 advantage to conclude the first round. During Its Laak had a miserable start against Polaris lose. Before considering the first 200 hands played were he was already back $ 1500! In comparing the two players, it was interesting to observe that Eslami, although he played the same cards, but lost almost half as much as Laak. However, Laak was at the end of the round again hochpushen and ended, after 500 hands played, with a backlog of $ 465th

Now if you look at both rounds added together would then be the head of Polaris only been gossamer, namely $ 70 – only seven small limit operations. Before the game but it was agreed that only a winner is established, if at least 25 small bets limit ($ 250) are present leadership – for whoever, whether human or machine. If this is not achieved, then there is no winner, because the statistical fluctuation range is too low. In this case, was the starting points 0:0, that is undecided. Man and machine were still fairly equal.

On Monday evening, the second round started. This time it was Laak in the public space and had to play Eslami in hotel rooms. This time there were quite a few spectators, nearly 100 onlookers were introduced, including Laaks girlfriend, actress Jennifer Tilly. The comments were some of Laak Lacher, repeatedly said he “Polaris is sick”.

This time, perhaps strengthened by the public, starts Laak heavily in the round.
The hand Nr.198 was particularly exciting. Laak had 9s/10s as pocket cards on the big blind, Polaris got Qd/10h. Polaris plays a raise, paid Laak, the flop brings 9d/10c/5h. This check both. The Turn shows 8c. Laak is just to raise one of Polaris to get. Of course paid Laak.

Do you know Inter Poker? In 2002, the Casino Group decided in the online poker market, and Inter Poker. Inter Poker uses the well-known Cryptologic software (such as William Hill Poker, Caribbean Sun Poker and Betfair), which the players are not necessarily comfortable with the user interface or the most beautiful graphics presented, but the online poker market over time a synonym for stability has developed. If you can the stability of the software is more important than unnecessary graphical games, you are at Inter Poker exactly the right manufacturer.

Now, of course the question is why the Inter Poker
World is still okay? It’s easy! Because Inter Poker offers something that is in the poker industry is unique. In addition to a first deposit bonus of 100% to $ 100 (there are 500 Raked hands needed to the full bonus amount) Inter Poker offers its players a monthly reload bonus of 100% to $ 100 (there are 500 Raked hands needed to the full bonus amount). A unique and very profitable bonus offer.

Sounds everything quite well, do you think now safe! But it is even better. Inter Poker is quite accommodating what the deposit scheme, ie they can start day of the month to pay $ 100 and again with the monthly reload deposit bonus code – great! Recently, Inter Poker the conditions for Raked hands for the benefit of players. In Level 1 $ 2 $ (No Limit, limit and Pot limit), every hand is Raked hand (there is one exception: If something nobody at the table and sets the big blind hand wins without that there will be a “Action” was One hand this is not one of the Raked hands – but it will also not rake forfeit). All in all, is a great opportunity just the way every month to earn $ 100 – makes $ 1200 a year!

As Inter Poker Multi table supports you can max. 8 tables simultaneously play, if it is assumed that per hour (Level 1 $ 2 $) ~ 50 Raked hands played, you could use the monthly bonus in the best case in about 1 hour of free play.

The player traffic at Inter Poker is excellent and you will at any time of day a sufficiently high number of open tables to find. But watching! Although the structure rake the average industry standard, you may be able to rake pay more than actually needed. Since all limits in euro and pound sterling offered, the percentage Rake course at tables with euro / pound currency equivalent higher.

Another tip at the end – Due to this excellent bonus offer has the number of Bonus Hunter at Inter Poker course in recent times dramatically. The tables, especially in the Level 1 $ / 2 are sometimes extremely $ Tight, so if you are not unnecessarily lose money, then you should very choosy in the selection table.

Now law but it is happening, Schleswig-Holstein Prime Minister Peter Harry Carstensen was the last government contract for the maintenance of the gambling monopoly in Germany signed. Thus, all federal country.

They saw it all so bright… a constant back and forth seemed almost the “off” for the contract to mean. Harsche continues criticism from the EU, because this state treaty clearly violated the freedom to provide services of the EU internal market fails. EU Internal Market Commissioner Charlie Mc Creevy now threatened with infringement proceedings against Germany. Because the state gambling provider will be allocated by the State Treaty continues
preferential treatment while non-state providers “outside” into account.

Still in April, EU Commissioner Verheugen an ultimatum to the EU-compliant revision of the State Treaty and even stressed that because of the Internet ban the procedure against Germany might be expanded.
In retrospect considered, not all countries agreed hastily, repeatedly expressed the leaders’ countries of concern to the draft, a tough process since 2006. This is useful, but nothing sirs, but when the signature on paper!

What does this mean for now all the online gaming market? Is this now the German variant of the “Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of the U.S.?
Not quite, because accounts are not (yet) frozen. In principle, everything is still the old, which means that it is legally prohibited German citizens continue to online portals to collect money. Who does not move in grey areas will need to remain in casinos pilgrimage. Nevertheless, the question arises: Who operates the expense of millions of online poker customers?

Even if the EU is the bright Nebelstreif for a free market in the gaming sector could be – until next year (2008), an infringement procedure. And this can drag for years – an expensive undertaking for Germany, and ultimately back to the taxpayer.

How useful such laws are now also shows step by step in the U.S.. Bill Frist has fewer and fewer votes for the UIGEA. The Poker Players Alliance “has in recent months greatly increase its pressure.
The last word is neither here nor spoken in the United States.
